The application fails to synchronize

Notice:

Data corruptions, or invalid data in the service for your titles can cause synchronization issues on Mac OS X. The issue affects all versions of the My Movies for Mac OS X application.

Issue:

My Movies for Mac OS X keeps repeating the message "Changes have been been made, Do you want to synchronise?", but then gives an error during synchronization.

Solution:

Typically, the issue is due to a corrupted data storage area, often after a Mac OS X upgrade. Your collection is stored in our online service, but local changes to the global profile data area, and offline titles are not stored online. To ensure your data, initially create a database backup.

Having created a database backup, from the "Collection" menu item, choose "Logout..." and then log back into your account. This causes your local database to be cleared, and the entire collection to be re-downloaded from our online service. Once the collection have been re-downloaded, you can restore your database backup to restore local changes and offline titles.

In some situations, this solution does not resolve the problem, in which case the next step is to fully delete the data storage area for the application. Initially close the application.

Open “Finder”. Select menu option “Go” and “Go to folder…”. Type in “~/Library/Container”, and select “Go”.

Users of My Movies for Mac OS X Pro must delete the folder "dk.mymovies.mymoviesformacosxpro", while users of My Movies for Mac OS X Free must delete the folder "dk.mymovies.mymoviesformacosxfree".

Having deleted the data storage area, you can re-open the application, which will again trigger a full database re-download. Once the collection have been re-downloaded, you can restore your database backup to restore local changes and offline titles.

In rare situations, invalid data can be stored in the online service, and the issue will re-occur when the data is re-downloaded - in this case, contact our support on support@mymovies.dk for help.

We are sorry for the trouble this is causing.
