If you have a database you would like to keep, you should not use this application, as it removes your database.

The title counter in the application is incorrect

Issue:

The title counter in the application is incorrect, or do not see my entire collection in the application.

Note:

This topic applies specifically to the My Movies mobile apps.

Cause:

Two counters will be shown, one showing the amount of titles currently shown on screen, and also another counter showing the amount of titles in your collection, currently synched to your device, in case the two differs. To see the amount of titles in your collection in the online service, you can click the round profile image in the left menu to access your profile details, including a title count, exactly as it is recorded in the online service.

There can be multiple view settings in the My Movies application that can cause the title counter to differ to the actual amount of titles that is in your collection. Do also notice that collection numbers are not the same as a title count - if you remove a title from your collection, the collection number is not used, and you can at any time freely use any collection number. You can use the "Reset Collection Numbers" function if you want to reset the collection numbers.

Note! Since version 4 on Android and version 5 on iPhone/iPad, a "Count As" feature have been introduced for counting titles containing multiple movies to count as the amount of movies included, rather than as just one title. The "Count As" feature will affect the total count, and can be personalised if you have a different count priority for the particular titles. Using the filter function, you can choose to filter by titles counting as more than one to locate these titles.

Solution:

If you would like to configure your application to display exactly the amount of titles in your collection, go through the following checks:

1. Click "Synchronize" on the settings page, and make sure that it says "Already Synchronized", if it synchronizes titles on the first click, click it again, and make sure it then says "Already Synchronized". Your collection is not fully synchronized until you receive this message.

2. Go to the main collection screen, and in the upper right corner menu, make sure that the group selector is set to "All Groups".

3. Make sure from the same menu that under "Filters", it is set to "No filter".

4. In the same menu, make sure that the sort option is set to "Title". Some sorting options, such as genre, where each title has multiple genres can include the same title twice, causing changes to the title counter.

5. Go to the settings page, into the "Box Sets" setting, and make sure that "Nest Disc Title Box Sets" is not enabled, and that "Display Box Set Container" is enabled after disabling nesting.

6. From the settings page, make sure the "TV Series on Disc" is set to "Display Disc Titles".

These checks should ensure that the title count you see exactly matches what is in your collection, and will also cause My Movies 3 to show only one counter - you may prefer some of these settings to be set differently, but that will affect what the title counter shows.

If you continue to see differences, please contact our support on support@mymovies.dk.

Why is there a difference in my title count between version 3 and 4

Question:

I have upgraded to My Movies 4 on Android, and now see a difference in title count compared to version 3. This can also be a difference between My Movies for iPhone/iPad and Android, as iPhone/iPad does not yet support this feature.

Answer:

My Movies 4 on Android introduced a new "Count As" feature to use in relation to box sets, and this can cause a difference in how your collection is counted, with My Movies 4 having a more accurate count.

The change relates to disc title box sets - box sets can exist in our service either as a full box set with child titles, but for box sets that have not been created as full box sets with child titles, only the parent title will exist in the service. In My Movies 3, and in My Movies 4, if the "Count As" value have not been set, a full box set will count as the amount of child titles in the box plus the parent title itself, where a box set consisting of only a parent title will count as one.

In My Movies 4, a "Count As" value could have been set in the global data, which specifically have to match the amount of movies contained in a box set - this can be either for titles created as full box sets with child titles, where the box may contain a certain number of child titles, with only some of them being movies, others may be bonus feature titles - here the "Count As" information can be set to count specifically how many movies the set contains - the other example is a title that have not been created as a full box set with child titles, and only exists as a parent title - here, the "Count As" information could also have been used to set how many movies the set actually contains.

This means that for box sets where the "Count As" information have been set, a full box set with child titles with two movies contained in the box, would in My Movies 3 count as 3 items, where in My Movies 4 it would only count as the two contained movies. On the other hand, box sets that are not created as full box sets, and therefore only exists as a parent title would count as one in My Movies 3, but if the "Count As" information have been set, it would count as that value in My Movies 4, so, there can be changes that have an impact on your title count in both direction - the changes however means that My Movies 4 will have a more accurate count.

Notice! You can use the "Filter" function to filter by "Count As", allowing you to display only titles where this information is set, allowing you to see the titles causing a difference - you can also use this functionality to show only titles where the "Count As" information have not been set, but where it might should have been, in which case you can use the "Add Missing Data" function to contribute the "Count As" information.

In the situation where you disagree on how a set should be counted, you can overwrite the "Count As" global data information with a matching personal data field, in the personal data area for the individual titles. It could be in a situation where you prefer a box set title to count only as one, or where you would like to also count bonus feature titles as titles in the collection.

The title I am trying to add to my database is not added.

Issue:

The title I am trying to add to my database is not added.

Cause:

This is a report we are getting from some users on our mobile application for Android - it is not affecting other platforms.

We expect that the situation is caused by a wrote state of reading from the local database.

To determine if this is the situation you see, when you click the plus button to add a title, nothing happens, and no error messages or similar appear.

Solution:

We do not yet know the solution to this issue, but based on our assumptions, we are looking for your feedback. Please send the following information to support@mymovies.dk.

Initially, it can help to sort by "Added Date", "Descending" in the upper right corner menu, and change to the group "All Titles" and have no filter applied, to ensure that you are not just missing to see the title in the list.

We would like the following information:

1. If you close the app fully (best is to turn your device off, to ensure the app is not just minimized), does the title appear?

2. If you cannot answer yes to question number 1, if you click synchronize on the settings page, which should give you a message "Already Synchronised", does the title then appear?

3. If you can, with another device, record a video of this for us, so that we can see that this is the issue you are affected by.

If you send this information to our support initially, we will be able to add some debugging on the service for your user account, and after getting the issue re-created, we might know more to be able to resolve it.

We hope that you will help us by providing these informations, even though the steps may resolve your issue, so that we can it it resolved in the app in general.

I can no longer open the application after upgrading

Issue:

I have updated My Movies for Mac OS X from the Mac App Store, and I can no longer open the application after the upgrade.

Cause:

In some situations an application is no longer able to read it's sandboxing data storage area after an upgrade through the Mac App Store. Therefore the data storage area must be deleted, and a re-sync forced with the online service. If you have offline titles or titles with local changes, it is recommended to always make a database backup before upgrading (available from version 1.10) - all other data will be re-synchronized from the online service when logging back into your account.

Solution:

The application data storage area must be removed, and the application re-synchronized with the online service. Follow the below process to remove the data storage area:

Open “Finder”. Select menu option “Go” and “Go to folder…”. Type in “~/Library/Containers”, and select “Go”.

Users of My Movies for Mac OS X Pro must delete the folder "dk.mymovies.mymoviesformacosxpro", while users of My Movies for Mac OS X Free must delete the folder "dk.mymovies.mymoviesformacosxfree". If using My Movies 2, the folder names will be "dk.mymovies.mymovies2formacosx" for the Free version, and "dk.mymovies.mymovies2proformacosx" for the Pro version, or with latest versions of Mac OS X, "My Movies 2 - Movie & TV" for the Free version, "My Movies 2 Pro - Movie & TV" for the Pro version.

Having deleted the storage area, restart the application and log into your My Movies account, and confirm to synchronize with the online service. The synchronization can take a while, but will restore all of your data.

How can I contribute or report a title missing, when another title with the same barcode already exists?

Question:

I have a title that I would like to contribute or report as a missing title, but I receive the message "Another title already exists with that barcode in that country". How can I add or report my title?

Answer:

The first thing you must to is to confirm if your title is actually a different title from the one already in the system - you can do this by searching for the barcode in the add title dialog. If your title is not different than the one already in the system, you should remove your own title and add the one that already exists in the system instead.

If your title differs from the one already in the system, you have what we call a duplicate title - such duplicate titles are rare, and to avoid users creating the same title in the service multiple times, they can only be added to the system by our staff.

To have a duplicate title created, you must send the following information to support@mymovies.dk:

- Barcode
- Title
- Type (DVD, Blu-ray or HD DVD)
- Country
- Photo of front cover
- Photo of back cover

The photos must be a picture taken with a camera or camera phone and must show the barcode visible. This is used to confirm the existance of the title - you may not send ONLY a cover scan, as it can be difficult for our staff to confirm if such are custom graphics or actual scans, but if you send the camera photos as evidence, you may also include scanned covers to be added to the created duplicate.

You will receive an e-mail when we have created the title in the system, and you can then remove your existing title from your collection, and add the one created by our staff, and optionally add more data to the created profile to improve it's complete percentage and earn contribution points.

Notice! Since April 2021, we are allowing duplicate title creations also if your title IS the same as the one in the service, with the exact same country and barcode, and for the same movie or tv series/season, but your version have had a cover re-design, or, if the existing profile lists the outer or inner cover of a title with a slip cover, and you would like the opposite listed. The requirement to have a duplicate created due to a different cover design is that the data on the existing profile must be complete, to avoid duplicating incomplete data - the existing profile must contain both a front and back cover (as it otherwise could contain a replacement cover), and, you can provide a full front and back cover scan of the cover design you have.

Be aware that if a title contains only a front cover, this may be a replacement cover, if the full and correct cover have not been available - in such situation, a duplicate is not needed, as you may simply contribute your covers to the profile, as long as the barcode matches the profile - your covers are expected to be the correct ones for the title, over the replacement front cover.

Can I get data from the local My Movies database to a third party application?

Question:

Can I get data from the local My Movies database to a third party application?

Answer:

The My Movies Remote Server API is available to professionals in My Movies, and to users with 2500 points on their user accounts. Be aware that professionals supplying solutions to customers must be part of our installer program - purchasing points for a user account grants the user access to support, but a professional supplier not part of our installer program cannot receive support.

Before integrating the API into your application, you must contact us on support@mymovies.dk, to ensure that we can send you any notices of service or API changes or similar. If there are changes to API functions, they are made so that existing applications will be able to continue their operations.

Important:

With the release of My Movies 5, the Remote Server API have been deprecated for end-users, and is only be available for our professional customers through our installer program.

Notice:

The API is available in all installations of My Movies 5, and is for legacy usage also available in My Movies Home and Essentials Server Solution (previously My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011) 2.11 or later, or My Movies for Windows Media Center or My Movies Collection Management for Windows 4.03 or later on Windows 7 or 8. The API is not supported on Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Availability:

The API is made available through the tray application in My Movies for Media Center and through the built-in service on My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011.

Once started, the API can be accessed through http://127.0.0.1:51414/. The port 51414 is opened in the Windows Firewall when My Movies is installed, however notice that it is registered to be opened on "Home Network" or "Work Networks" only, which means that it is not open if the machine is configured to be on a public network. Similar, if a third party firewall or security software is used on the Host PC, the port must be opened manually.

The remote server advertises itself through Apple Bonjour services, with the type id "_mymoviesdata._tcp", including the name of the machine and the port number of the service. The name of the machine can be changed through the API itself. Notice that Bonjour advertising is available only when Bonjour Printing services is installed on the host machine, a software that is not automatically installed with My Movies.

Commands can be sent to the API such as http://127.0.0.1:51414/?command=SendKey&key=Up&username=user&password=pass.

The following informations must be sent with all requests:

"command". This specifies the command you would like to call.

"username" (alternative to apikey). This is the users username as specified in your application settings, which must match the username used in My Movies on the Host PC. The requirement of this ensures that the local data API is not fully open.

"password" (alternative to apikey). This is the users password as specified in your application settings, which must match the password used in My Movies on the Host PC. The requirement of this ensures that the local data API is not fully open.

"apikey" (alternative to username/password). If you do not want the users to log into your remote application with their My Movies user account, you can as an alternative ask them to enter an API key. This is typically used by custom installer installations where a user account is optional. The API key, which is a Unique generated string can be found in "Collection Management", "Tools", "Options", "Remote Control Server" in My Movies for Windows, or in "Remote Control Server" settings in the My Movies Home and Essentials Server Solution software package.

The API either returns with an XML file or the actual file that was requested. In case of an xml file, it will contain a response node, such as:

<Response status="ok"></Response>
or
<Response status="failed">Message from server.</Response>

The server can return the following statuses:

"ok". The command was received and processed as expected. This is the default response. Depending on the command, the Response node may contain either XML or clear text inside for the result.
"failed". The command failed for one or more reasons. The reason is included as clear text inside the Response node.

There can be other return values on specific commands, which will be documented with the command.

The following API commands are available (the parameters mentioned are additional to the three mentioned above):

Ping - This command returns "pong", and can be used to check if the service is available.

Version - This command returns the version of the My Movies application on the Host PC. This can be used if API commands are added in later versions, and your application requires a specific version. The version is returned in the format "W.X.Y.Z", where "W" specifies the major version, "X" the first digit of the minor version, "Y" the second digit of the minor version, and "Z" specifies the Pre Release version, or build number on released versions. The data and covers on the profiles is loaded from our online service, and except for the data in the personal data sections, you cannot edit these profiles. The personal data section does not include covers.

The reason you cannot freely edit the profiles is that My Movies is based on you being able to switch between clients, and your collection synchronizes automatically between all clients - this also functions as a backup if you loose your device and get a new, as your data belongs to your user account.

If you were allowed to freely edit all the data, including the covers on the profiles, your edits would either be made in the local database on one of your devices, and would not transfer to your other clients, and would not be backed up in case you loose your device. The alternative would be that our online system should maintain individual user data on all of the titles in the system, a figure that is higher than 150 million titles, and in the event that you add a personal low-quality cover for one of your titles that is missing a cover, what should happen if a high-quality cover is added to the global system?

The fact that you cannot freely edit the titles in your collection for the above reasons means that any changes made to the non-personal data part of the title profiles must be something that is contributed to the global My Movies online service, and therefore must follow our contribution guidelines, and will pass through our moderation system. By contributing to the online service, your addition to the title profile becomes available to all other users having the same title.

Contributions to the online system can be made from a desktop PC, using our My Movies Collection Management for Windows or My Movies for Mac OS X software packages, or you can use the "Add Missing Data" function in the bottom of the details page on recent versions of the mobile applications.

Therefore, you can add covers to the titles in your collection if the covers follows the contribution guidelines. In any other event, you cannot add your own covers.

Notice:

This answer relates to title profiles added from our online system, and not titles created manually using the "Create Title" options in the mobile applications, or manually created on Windows or Mac, and uploaded as a personal title. These titles are considered personal, and here you can change the titles as you would like.

Why does my collection numbers and title counts differ?

Question:

Why does my collection numbers and title counts differ?

Answer:

You will often see that the collection numbers on the titles in your collection differs from the title count numbers for the collection.

Collection numbers are not in any way related to a title count, but is designed to be equivalent to a number sticker placed on each title in the collection - once a title gets a collection number, it keeps that collection number, unless you manually change it, or use a reset collection numbers function. This means that if you have a collection of 3 titles, with collection numbers 1, 2 and 3 in your collection, and you for some reason remove the title with collection number 2, because of a sale or damage, you will have collection numbers 1 and 3, but will have a title count of 2.

This way, you can be sure that a certain title will always have the same number, no matter what happens to other titles in the collection - if you consider these equivalent to a sticker, you also would not move the stickers of 299 titles if you have a collection of 300 titles and sell title number 1.

Since collection numbers are part of personal data on the titles, and not a virtual on-the-fly calculated number, the applications does not have an option to handle collection numbers differently, such as a functionality where all collection numbers shift, should you remove a title from the collection, because it would mean that all titles with a collection number higher than the one you remove would have to be changed, in some cases, for users with many titles, meaning thousands of titles which has to be changed and updated in sync between the server and the client, as well as any other client.

There is on latest versions of all clients a "Reset collection numbers" function, which will reset the collection numbers based on the current selected sorting on the client - this functionality will change all the titles, and the process can take some time - it is not intended that you use this function to re-number your collection frequently, but it does give you an option to have the collection numbers reset, perhaps because you would like them set depending on a different sorting, or because you made a larger clean-up in your collection.

Disc Id differences

Introduction:

Over a period, we have had a number of reports from users where their disc id differs to the one on the profile in our service, and we have come to learn that two specific issues is causing problems with disc id reading.

Issue 1:

This issue affects only DVD titles, and only on Windows 10, since the update named "October 2018 Update", released on November 13'th 2018.

This update to Windows 10 changes something in the cdrom.sys driver, causing it to read totally different disc ids. We at this time consider this to be a bug in Windows, but we have been unable to determine if the Windows team is aware, and if this is a problem that we are going to see permanently, or if this is a bug that will be corrected.

Fact is that when reading disc ids on Windows 10 after the October 2018 update, the disc ids will be totally different than what we consider to be the correct ids, and you should therefore not read and contribute disc ids on DVDs to the online service if you are on Windows 10 after this update, unless you have upgraded to 5.25 Pre Release 5 or later of the My Movies software, which works around the issue.

The issue is resolved with the 5.25 Pre Release 5 release of the My Movies software, by not using the Windows calls, but instead calculating the disc id directly from the file system, or from AnyDVD when AnyDVD is running and enabled. The problem with reading disc ids from the file system when decrypters are running, including DVDFab Decrypter, DVD43 and others will return incorrect disc ids - therefore the software will refuse to read a disc id if you have a combination of Windows 10, and any known decrypter software running. Overall, with the exception of AnyDVD, you should never read disc ids when decrypter software is running.

Besides identifying discs though the disc id, My Movies also has a chapter based id which it uses internally, which means that discs will be able to be identified, also when the disc id is incorrect or not read, but this id may not give the exact same release of a title, in cases where the main movie is identical, but bonus material and other outside material differs.

To protect the service against incorrect disc ids, we will be blocking software versions on Windows prior to 5.25 Pre Release 5 from contributing data with any disc id additions or changes, as we cannot know if the system the disc was read from was an affected Windows 10 system, and we will be blocking data contributions in general from older clients, as they contribute though a part of the API which is unable to determine which specific changes a contribution contains.

Should you find any disc id in the service which does not correspond to your disc id, when having the exact same release by barcode, please report this to us using the report incorrect data function, for us to investigate, before changing the disc id.

Issue 2:

This issue affects only Blu-ray titles, and only when AnyDVD is running.

The disc id My Movies uses for Blu-ray is gathered though a SHA-1 hash of one of the AACS files on the disc, specifically the Unit_Key_RO.inf file. We have though communication with the team behind AnyDVD learned that AnyDVD in some situations needs to use the sector space for other file information, which ultimately alters the Unit_Key_RO.inf file, giving the disc a different disc id.

With version 8.3.8.2 and above of AnyDVD (this release is not yet a final release at the time this is written), AnyDVD is now writing the unaltered SHA-1 hash of this file into a file on the disc, which My Movies as of version My Movies 5.25 Pre Release 5 can read.

It is therefore important that you disable AnyDVD while reading Blu-ray disc ids, until you are certain to have the combination of the two versions of AnyDVD (8.3.8.2 or later) and My Movies (5.25 Pre Release 5 or later) mentioned above.

Due to the fact that we are also internally reading a different disc id for Blu-ray discs, we typically have the option of automatically adding alternative ids to the profiles internally, which we have done in batches daily since September 9'th based on queries to our database.

However, since we are yet to determine if the above explained situation is the cause of all of the differences to disc ids we see is not yet known, we would love to receive as many reports as possible though the "Report Incorrect Data" function, when your disc id read without AnyDVD running differs from the profile. We would like that you are updated to My Movies 5.25 Pre Release 5 or later when reading and reporting the difference. If you find that you can read a different disc id with AnyDVD enabled and disabled, we also would like to hear from you in this situation.

Most importantly, there can be situations where the disc id stored on a profile may be the wrong id, and therefore we would like for you to report any situation you have where your disc id, read without AnyDVD running differs from the one on the profile.

<span style="font-family: verdana, arial, tahoma; Could I at least get a rebate when purchasing multiple applications?

Answer:

Our applications are considered separate applications on separate platforms, even though they have similar or identical feature sets. iPhone and iPad is since My Movies 2 considered one platform, referred to as the iOS platform.

When switching from an Android phone to an iPhone or to a Mac or visa versa, you are switching from one application store to another (Google Play Store, iTunes App Store, Mac App Store, ect.), and there is technically not any relation between the purchase you made on one platform to a purchase on another - Google, Apple and Microsoft are technically the ones selling the application, and if we were to apply the purchase to your user account and let you purchase outside of the Google Play Store and iTunes App Store, this would be seen as an attempt to bypass their purchase models for which Google, Apple and Microsoft charges a 30% fee, and it would mean that our applications would be banned from the stores.

Although we would like to give a rebate to users purchasing our applications on multiple platforms, this is not an option available to providers on neither the iTunes App Store, the Mac App Store or Google Play Store, and we therefore are unable to do so.

You can compare the situation to a Ford car dealer - if you purchase a Ford Focus, you do not automatically get a Ford Fiesta and a Ford Mondeo to go with it - similar to how the Ford models are separate models with a similar feature set, our applications are also separate, and therefore separate purchases.

Notice! Even though our applications have a similar or identical feature set on multiple platforms, we also have separate development costs for the individual platforms.

How can I produce a log file in My Movies for Windows?

Question:

I have been asked by My Movies support to provide a log file from My Movies for Windows, how do I do that?

Answer:

There are two different ways of enabling and producing a log file in My Movies for Windows, depending on weather you can open the Collection Management application on your machine or not. Collection Management is an application installed with all My Movies for Windows installations, and is available in the start menu on your machine.

If you can open Collection Management, in the menu, select "Help", "Debug" and click "Enable" to make sure debug is enabled. There is a "Enable High" option available, but that should only be used if you have been requested by support to do so, and, if enabled, it must be disabled again after reproducing the problem you were asked to provide a high debug log file for, as having the high debug level enabled will affect the application operation. Then select "Clear Log", and restart the part of My Movies that you need to provide a log file from, or, restart your computer, which will create a fresh log. Then reproduce the problem you are having, and go to Collection Management, Help, Debug and open the log directory. From here, copy the "log.txt" file, and the "logEx.txt" log file, and zip them.

If you are unable to open Collection Management, use one of the registry files attached to this article (found in the bottom of the article), to enable debug on your device - only use the "High" version based on the instructions above, in any other situation, use the standard debug files. If using the "High" debug level, be sure to disable debug again with the files to disable debug once the requested log have been created. The files are zipped and must be extracted, and the registry file clicked. WARNING! It is very important that you do not run the X64 files on an X86 machine, as this will lead to problems with your My Movies installation overall. If you are in any way unsure how to identify if you are running an X86 or X64 machine, contact our support before running the file.

Having run the file, open the folder "C:\ProgramData\My Movies" - the folder is a hidden folder, and you can either type in the path in an explorer window, or you can in Control Panel, Folder Options configure your device to show hidden folders. In the folder, delete the files "log.txt" and "logEx.txt", and any zipped log files if produced, and restart the part of My Movies that you need to provide a log file from, or, restart your computer, which will create a fresh log. Having reproduced the problem, open the "C:\ProgramData\My Movies" folder again, and copy the "log.txt" file, and the "logEx.txt" log file, and zip them. Please make sure to post your file in original zip format, and not in rar or other alternative compression formats, to ensure that our staff do not need additional software to read your logs. If you have had the high debug level enabled, and you performed a long running task, there may be one or more zipped log files in the directory to provide also.

In the rare situation where you have a problem that cannot be reproduced, you may be able to locate the log file from the time the issue occurred. Each time the log file reaches a certain size (by default 20 MB), the software will zip the log file, and keep a number of zipped log files in the folder. If your issue cannot be reproduced, check if a zip file exists with a created date after the issue occurred - you would need to provide zip file with the latest created date, with a created date after the issue - if there is no zip file with a created date after the issue occurred, the current log files will cover the issue.

You can now attach the zip file to your forum post through the "attach" button, or, you can e-mail the log file to support@mymovies.dk referencing to your issue.

Why can't I import my CSV file with the importer?

Question:

The application I am currently using can export my collection to a CSV file, why can't I import this file?

Answer:

The option to import from a CSV file will work only when the CSV file contains data specifically created for the importer.

"CSV" stands for "Comma Separated Values", which means that this is simply a file containing any sort of data, separated by comma. Therefore, a CSV file is not a pre-specified universal format for exporting your movie collection, but the individual applications own choice of which data to export, and in which order.

The import function recognises a number of applications that can be selected directly, where the importer are aware which fields to expect in the supplied file, but when using the generic CSV or file import option, the supplied file cannot just be any CSV file from any application, it must specifically be a file containing the data that the importer expects.

Since My Movies does not simply track limited typed in data for your titles, but instead lets you add shared and detailed profiles from our online service to your collection, when you import from another application, we are not simply importing your data, but the importer will match your existing data to profiles in our service. Therefore, the CSV file supplied must specifically contain 12 or 13 digit UPC or EAN barcodes (recommended) (which can link directly to the unique disc title profile) or alternatively IMDB id's such as (tt0000000) (which can only link to the generic movie profile), as these are the only informations we can use to determine which title in your collection that matches which title in our service.

Besides containing these barcodes or imdb ids, the file must specifically include them in the first column of the file, as the importer needs to know where to look for them - when you simply export a CSV file from the application you are currently using, some of the applications does not even hold the option to export barcodes or imdb ids, where others have the information places somewhere in the file where the importer cannot locate them.

Therefore, your CSV file must be imported into an application such as Excel, and you can from there create a new file with only one column, containing either barcodes, or IMDB ids, and you can then supply this file to the importer.

Some applications may not export barcodes or imdb ids, but will simply export a list of titles - you cannot import from such application, as titles can be typed differently, and it becomes much too uncertain that the titles you are importing are also the titles you end up with, and if you cannot be sure of this, there is not much value in an import. Source drive does not contain a valid disc".

Cause:

Copying an ISO file to storage, the software creates what is described as a "safe file handle" on the drive to read the full unaltered disc content, and not just the file and folder content on the disc.

Even when not copying to a target drive of a drive with drive pooling, creating this safe file handle will fail if the user have Stablebit DrivePool installed.

It is not possible for us to know why this fails, as we do not know exactly how Stablebit DrivePool is developed, but we expect that the software in full replaces the driver for the file system with its own drive, which does not let our software create a valid safe file handle.

Workaround:

The only available workarounds are to uninstall Stablebit DrivePool in full, or avoid copying to ISO files, and copy only to VIDEO_TS, BDMV folders, MKV files or similar.

Which launch commands does the My Movies applications provide?

Question:

Which launch commands does the My Movies applications for iPad and iPhone provide, if I would like to integrate with them in my control system?

Answer:

The following launch names are supported by the applications:

mymovies - My Movies Pro - Movie & TV Collection Library 2.XX

mymoviesipad - My Movies for iPad Pro 1.XX

mymoviesiphone - My Movies for iPhone Pro 1.XX

The following locations of the applications can be opened by sending a "host" parameter:

collection - Opens the application on the "Collection" tab.

persons - Opens the application on the "Persons" tab.

releases - Opens the application on the "Releases" tab.

trailers - Opens the application on the "Trailers" tab.

remote - Opens the application on the "Remote" tab. Only used if the remote control functionality is enabled on the device.

server - Opens the application on the "Server" tab. Only used if device is connected to My Movies 5 or legacy My Movies Home and Essentials Server Solution.

settings - Opens the application on the "Settings" tab.

launchApp - Launches the application on it's default tab.

The following parameters can be used to be able to return to the calling application:

callerName - The displayed name of the calling application, displayed in the application. The "returnURL" parameter is required.

returnURL - The launch name of the the calling application. The "callerName" parameter is required.

Notice! iOS 9 adds default "back to" when launching one application from another. Due to this, "callerName" and "returnUrl" have been deprecated in My Movies 2.

Additionally, the "zone" parameter can be used to select a specific remote playback and remote control zone. The parameter must contain the name of the configured zone in the remote control section of the My Movies application, such as "Bedroom" or "Livingroom". The user will when this parameter is provided not be prompted for playback location, or remote control location, but the passed zone will be selected directly.

Example of usage in code:

NSURL *callUrl = [[NSURL alloc] initWithScheme:@"mymoviesipad" host:@"persons" path:/?callerName=Launching Application&returnURL=launchingapplication://paramsforlaunchingapplication];

[[UIApplication sharedApplication] openURL:callUrl];

Example of usage from other applications where a launch string must be inputted:

mymoviesipad://persons/?callerName=Launching%20Application&returnURL=launchingapplication://

Continuous synchronization blocks title addition and other changes

Issue:

Continuous requests to synchronize blocks for title addition and title changes in My Movies 2 for Android.

Solution:

To determine if you are affected by this problem, go to the "Settings" page of the application, and click "Synchronize", and let the device synchronize. If the synchronization process finalises without problems (typically loading data for a very few amount of titles), click "Synchronize" again - if the software says "Already Synchronized", you are not affected by this problem, and we recommend you instead contact support@mymovies.dk.

If you continue to have the same amount of titles synchronizing, there is a data corruption in your internal database, which has occurred during initial synchronization of your collection. If possible for you, we request that you make a copy of the "My Movies 2 Pro" folder on your SD card, or in internal memory, and make that available for download for us through a file sharing site, and contact support@mymovies.dk, along with a link to the download, and your username. This will allow us to investigate the issue for other users having the same problem in the future.

Close the application, and delete the "My Movies 2 Pro" folder, and then re-open the application, which forces a complete re-sync of your data. We expect that this re-sync will correct the problem, but should that not be the case, contact support@mymovies.dk, with information that you have already attempted a complete re-sync. If you cannot locate the "My Movies 2 Pro" folder on your SD card, or in internal memory, changing the data storage area in settings on your device will also force a complete re-sync.

We are sorry for the trouble this is causing for you, and hope to soon have an overview of the problem to be able to resolve it.

The application fails to synchronize

The application fails to synchronize

Notice:

Data corruptions, or invalid data in the service for your titles can cause synchronization issues on Mac OS X. The issue affects all versions of the My Movies for Mac OS X application.

Issue:

My Movies for Mac OS X keeps repeating the message "Changes have been been made, Do you want to synchronise?", but then gives an error during synchronization.

Solution:

Typically, the issue is due to a corrupted data storage area, often after a Mac OS X upgrade. Your collection is stored in our online service, but local changes to the global profile data area, and offline titles are not stored online. To ensure your data, initially create a database backup.

Having created a database backup, from the "Collection" menu item, choose "Logout..." and then log back into your account. This causes your local database to be cleared, and the entire collection to be re-downloaded from our online service. Once the collection have been re-downloaded, you can restore your database backup to restore local changes and offline titles.

In some situations, this solution does not resolve the problem, in which case the next step is to fully delete the data storage area for the application. Initially close the application.

Open “Finder”. Select menu option “Go” and “Go to folder…”. Type in “~/Library/Container”, and select “Go”.

Users of My Movies for Mac OS X Pro must delete the folder "dk.mymovies.mymoviesformacosxpro", while users of My Movies for Mac OS X Free must delete the folder "dk.mymovies.mymoviesformacosxfree".

Having deleted the data storage area, you can re-open the application, which will again trigger a full database re-download. Once the collection have been re-downloaded, you can restore your database backup to restore local changes and offline titles.

In rare situations, invalid data can be stored in the online service, and the issue will re-occur when the data is re-downloaded - in this case, contact our support on support@mymovies.dk for help.

We are sorry for the trouble this is causing.

The application keeps asking me to sync each time I try to add titles

Notice:

This issue affected My Movies for Mac OS X version 1.22 and earlier. Please update the application in the Mac App Store.

Issue:

My Movies for Mac OS X keeps repeating the message "Changes have been been made, Do you want to synchronise?" each time I try to add new titles to the collection.

Cause:

Before adding titles, be sure that your collection is synchronized by clicking the "Synchronize" button in the upper left corner of the application.

If you have done this, and you continue to always receive the message "Changes have been been made, Do you want to synchronise?" when trying to add titles, then chance is that your internal database have become inconsistent.

Solution:

Since we have not yet found the cause of the inconsistencies that can occur, we would like for you send us your database for inspection.

Open “Finder”. Select menu option “Go” and “Go to folder…”. Type in “~/Library/Containers”, and select “Go”.

Users of My Movies for Mac OS X Pro must open the folder "dk.mymovies.mymoviesformacosxpro", while users of My Movies for Mac OS X Free must open the folder "dk.mymovies.mymoviesformacosxfree". From this folder, we would like for you to send us the "mymovies.db" file. You may Zip the file to avoid sending the large file.

Having sent us your database, you can force a full synchronize of your collection by logging out from the "Collection" menu, and log back in. Warning! When logging out all offline titles will be cleared from your collection, and any local changes outside of the personal data that have not been contributed to the online service will also be lost.

We are sorry for the trouble this is causing.

How can I re-install the first version of My Movies for iPhone or My Movies for iPad?

Question:

I can no longer locate my purchased My Movies for iPhone or My Movies for iPad version 1 in the App Store. How can I re-install it on my device, or install it on a new device?

Answer:

In December 2014, the first version of the My Movies for iPhone and My Movies for iPad applications was replaced by a new and significantly improved version 2 under the name "My Movies Pro - Movie & TV Collection Library", which is a paid-for upgrade, and the first version of the application is now no longer available for purchase on the App Store.

Users who do not wish to upgrade to the new application can re-install the first version by opening the App Store on their device, click on the "Updates" tabbar icon, and then click the "Purchased" link in the top, to access their list of purchased applications. In here, your purchase of My Movies for iPhone or My Movies for iPad will be listed - the applications will be listed by purchase date, and due to this, if you have many purchased applications, it can be a little difficult to locate.

You can from this list re-install the application as any other application in the App Store.

Notice! As of June 1'st 2015, Apple does no longer allow for X86 based applications to be updated in the App Store. This means that while we continue to provide support for version 1 of the application, we can no longer upgrade the application, even if critical errors occurs on new iOS versions. It is highly recommended to upgrade to the new version of the application, which also provides many new significant features.

Why do my mobile device and online collection not show all titles?

Question:

I am using the Collection Management program on my Windows PC, and when synchronizing my online and mobile collection, the mobile device and online collection is not showing all of my titles. Why is not all of my titles shown?

Answer:

The Online Collection is not an exact copy of your locally stored data, but instead it is a reference on your user account to the titles you have in your collection. The titles must be available on the online service to be available.

There are different situations for which titles are unavailable in the online service:

You have created the title manually, but have not contributed it to the online service. In this situation, you should ensure that the title follows the contribution guidelines, and contribute it to the online service. If the title is of a personal type, such as a wedding video, holiday video or similar, users with 2500 points or more may upload it as a personal title from the "Title" menu. The manually created titles can be identified by a white strikethrough icon in the title list.

You have configured the online collection to NOT show both online and offline titles.

You have configured the online collection to NOT show all groups.

You have titles that have been imported from "DVD Profiler", which was not converted to My Movies profiles. These titles are also only available in your local collection. These titles can be identified by a house icon in the title list.

If you have used My Movies for several years, you may have titles that were originally added from other sources such as Amazon before the My Movies WebService were available. This option where deprecated several years ago, but existing titles remains. These can be identified with a globe icon in the title list.

TV Series which were made available in the My Movies Collection Management program with My Movies 4 is currently not supported by the mobile softwares and online collection, and these will be available only in the Collection Management program.

I am having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5

Issue:

I am having trouble installing or upgrading to My Movies 5.

Troubleshooting:

Before proceeding with the troubleshooting steps in this article, it is important that you have created a database backup on My Movies 4, if you are upgrading from My Movies 4 to My Movies 5. If you have not created a backup, you should only proceed if you do not need to keep your database.

The majority of problems with upgrading to My Movies 5 is related to the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 that My Movies uses as a database back-end. My Movies 4 uses uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and since My Movies 5 uses new file storage technologies in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, an upgrade of the database server is unfortunately required.

Initially, please go to our download page, and make sure that you have the latest release and build of My Movies 5. As we continue to get help troubleshooting systems, we improve the installer to handle more failure scenarios, or give better messages based on SQL Server 2008 R2 installation errors.

Please go through the below described issue to see which applied to you. In some situations, on machines with deeper problems, resolving one issue may cause another issue to show itself - in this case, go through the issue descriptions again to see if your current issue is covered.

We are sorry for the grief caused by the installation problems you are having.

Issue 1: The installer gives the message "Microsoft SQL Server could not be installed. The installation returned errorcode...".

Solution - Issue 1: This message unfortunately can contain many different error codes, which often are very generic, and covers common problems installing the SQL Server. Having received this message, you should receive the question "Installing SQL Server with an installation interface may resolve the installation problem" - answer yes to this dialog, and proceed with the installation with an interface - on some devices the installation completes when having the interface, and in other situations it gives a more meaningful error message, that can be used by our support. If the installation also fails to complete with the interface, before contacting support, open "Control Panel", and "Uninstall a program". Check to see if "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2" listed in the installed applications, and choose to uninstall it if it is. If you get the option of uninstalling different instances, uninstall only the instance "MYMOVIES". There can be many more items in the program list labelled SQL Server - only uninstall "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2". Having uninstalled the database server, or, if the database server did not exist in the list of installed programs, reboot your machine, and start the My Movies 5 installer again. If the same error scenario continues, contact our support at support@mymovies.dk with a screenshot of the error message received when installing with the interface.

Issue 2: The installer gives the message "The installer failed to enable FileStream on your database server".

Solution - Issue 2: The cause of this problem is not known, but is expected to be caused by incorrect management configurations of the currently installed Microsoft SQL Server. If you have this problem, the best solution is to start with a fresh installation, by uninstalling My Movies, use our clean tool (can be found here) to fully uninstall the database server, and once having done so, reboot your machine and run the My Movies 5 installer again, which will install everything fresh, allowing you to restore your prior database.

Issue 3: The installer gives the message "The installer detected a prior database instance, but could not read the version of the database server"

Solution - Issue 3: The currently installed database server contains invalid registrations in registry. If you have this problem, the best solution is to get the database server uninstalled manually. Open "Control Panel", and "Uninstall a program". Locate "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" or "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2" in the list of installed applications, you typically will only have one of the two. Notice! When uninstalling, the uninstaller will ask which instance to remove, uninstall only the instance "MYMOVIES", and do not uninstall if this instance is not listed. There can be many more items in the program list labelled SQL Server - only uninstall "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" or "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2", depending on which entry you have, and which of them contains the "MYMOVIES" instance. Having uninstalled the database server manually, restart your machine, and run the My Movies 5 installer again.

Issue 4: The installer gives me the message "The SQL Server could not be uninstalled...", when uninstalling SQL Server 2005.

Solution - Issue 4: Open "Control Panel", and "Uninstall a program". Locate "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" in the list of installed applications, and choose to uninstall it. If you get the option of uninstalling different instances, uninstall only the instance "MYMOVIES". There can be many more items in the program list labelled SQL Server - only uninstall "Microsoft SQL Server 2005".

Issue 5: I have been unsuccessfull on uninstalling "Microsoft SQL Server 2005" manually, as instructed in issue 1. The uninstall also fails in Control Panel.

Solution - Issue 5: Broken SQL Server 2005 installations in some situations cannot be uninstalled. Notice! The solution mentioned here will remove the SQL Server from operating, and allow My Movies to install, but will not remove the SQL Server files. In "Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", open "Services" and locate "SQL Server (MyMOVIES)", if it is started, right click it, and stop it. Open a command prompt in administrative mode, by right clicking "Command Prompt" in your start menu, and select "Run as administrator". In the command prompt, type "SC DELETE MSSQL$MYMOVIES". Reboot your machine, and continue with the installation of My Movies 5.

Issue 6: The installation of My Movies 5 appeared to be successfull, but I have lost all covers.

Solution - Issue 6: This problem occurs if the installer was unable to create the file storage area successfully.

Issue 7: I cannot connect a client to my server after upgrading both.

Solution - Issue 7: This issue is often caused by the database not being installed or upgraded correct on the server. Please confirm this by opening the Collection Management program on the server, which in My Movies 5 is installed on all installations, including server installations. If the Collection Management program on the server directly also cannot connect, there is a problem with the database. You should after this be able to connect your client PC.

Issue 8: I receive the message "The back-end service is connecting to the database server to perform configuration..." when opening the Collection Management application on the same machine that operates as server.

Solution - Issue 8: The message instructs to wait a few minutes - make sure that you have waited at least five minutes before proceeding. If the message still comes after five minutes, perform a reboot of hte machine, and ensure again that it does not resolve if. If not resolves automatically with a reboot, this indicates an incorrect installation of the database server.

Issue 9: The installation of My Movies 5 was successfully, but it fails to restore my database backup.

Solution - Issue 9: During the restore of a database, you will receive an administrative task prompt from UAC - if you fail to confirm this, typically because you are not monitoring the restore process, the restore will fail - be sure to monitor the restore process until this confirmation have been requested. In other situations, the restore may fail, which can be caused by temporary connection issues with the database server. Please retry the restore three times before contacting our support, to ensure this is not the problem you are having.

Issue 10: The installer gives me the message "The prior SQL Server 2005 database instance have been removed", and asks me to restart and run the installer again, but then comes up with the same message.

Solution - Issue 10: Open "Control Panel", and "Uninstall a program".

Other Issues: If you have an issue that is not covered in this topic, please create a topic on our forums. It is not recommended that you manually try other solutions than the ones mentioned here, and, when posting on the forums, please create your own topic, to avoid moving focus from other users problems - even when you believe you have the same problem.

The remote control function for Windows Media Center on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone or Windows 8 won't connect to My Movies for Windows

Issue:

The remote control function on iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows Phone or Windows 8 won't connect to My Movies for Windows, either though automatic discovery or though manual adding.

Solution:

There can be different reasons for this problem, ones which we will list below:

My Movies 5 or legacy My Movies for Windows Media Center 4 or later must be installed on your Windows Media Center Host PC.

Automatic discovery requires either iTunes or Bonjour Printing Services (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl999) to be installed on your Windows Media Center Host PC. If you do not want these softwares installed on your PC, you must configure the server manually by entering the IP number of it. Be aware that on DHCP networks, the IP address can change, and the IP number therefore also needs to be reconfigured on your mobile device.

Automatic discovery is not currently supported on Windows Phone.

You network must be configured as a "Home network" or "Work network", and not as a "Public network". My Movies for Windows creates firewall exceptions for the remote server into the Windows Firewall, allowing the mobile device to connect to it, and these exceptions are not available on public networks. You can check the status of your network in "Control Panel", "Network and Sharing Center".

Your mobile devices must be connected to the same wireless router or wireless network as the host PC. You may have a router configured used to connect to the internet, which is not at the same time running your wireless network, and instead of having a wireless access point, you may have another router functioning as wireless access point - this is technically another network, and therefore it will block connections to devices on the primary network.

You cannot connect manually to your Host PC by it's network name - you must either manually connect using the IP address, or use the automatic discovery.

There can be problems using automatic discovery on iPhone or iPad if Bluetooth is enabled on your device, due to a problem with iOS where Bluetooth and Bonjour which is used for automatic discovery can interfear.

My Movies for Windows creates firewall exceptions for your host PC and up to five extenders only. If you have more than five extenders, or your extenders are configured as having a higher connection number than 5, the mobile device will be unable to connect to it.

If you are using domains instead of workgroups in your networking setup, you must manually configure the firewall exceptions for ports 51408 through 51414. My Movies for Windows creates firewall exceptions into the Windows Firewall, but these are not added for domain usage.
