I can however see this section in documentation and screenshots on the My Movies website.

Cause:

AnyDVD is illegal to redistribute with software in some countries, and to ensure that installers do not redistribute software with such functionality by default, the AnyDVD section is hidden by default on these installations, but can be added by clicking a key combination.

Please see this page for instructions:

http://www.mymovies.dk/products/windows-home-server/my-movies-disc-copier/anydvd-and-anydvd-hd.aspx

Why do DVD copying fail all the time?

Question:

When I copy a DVD to my harddrive or storage device using My Movies for Windows Media Center, My Movies Collection Management or My Movies for Windows Home Server, the copy quickly fail shortly after starting to copy. Why do these copies fail?

Answer:

My Movies by default only copy unprotected discs, and most DVD's are protected by CSS copy protections. If you are trying to copy a disc with CSS copy protection, the copy will fail as soon as My Movies starts to read one of the encrypted sectors.

Solution:

It is in some countries not allowed to break copy protection to copy a DVD onto harddrive or storage, even though you owe the disc in question. Users in countries where it is allowed, can install SlySoft AnyDVD* which removes copy protection on any disc inserted into the machine. SlySoft AnyDVD is a separate product from a separate company, and must be purchased separately - it is not included with My Movies.

* Installing and/or using AnyDVD is illegal in some countries. Users are themselves responsible for complying with local law when installing and using AnyDVD.

When contributing a box set the program freezes and I get an error

Issue:

When you contribution a box set, you might see that the progress window stops responding, and after some time you get an error message saying “The WebService did not respond to the request in an expected way”.

Cause:

This might be caused by the fact that it can take a long time for the server to process the data in the box set, and the client then times out before getting a respond from the server. While we are working on a more user friendly solution to this, there is a workaround that you can try.

Solution:

This workaround sets a higher timeout limit (5 minutes) in the client for all contribution calls. So the program will unfortunately still look like it freezes, but it will return after the specified time, or when the server responds to the contribution call.

To use the workaround do the following:
1. Make sure you got the latest version of My Movies installed.
2. Save the attached zip file, and run the file ‘SetContributeTimeout.reg’ that is in it. This file changes a setting in the machines registry. You will be asked if you want to allow this. The change is only done to a setting that is private to My Movies, so there is no harm in it.
3. Do the contribution again.

If this workaround doesn’t fix the problem, then please make a post on our support forum, or contact us through support@mymovies.dk

TV Series on DVD pops up disc selector instead of playing episode

Symptoms:

Having added a Disc Title containing a TV Series, you receive a disc selection dialog when pressing "Play" on one of the TV Series episodes.

Cause:

Your titles are stored as another media type than the required VIDEO_TS folder structure, or your title is not pointed correct to the path. The format you have your media stored in could be ISO files or individual files, both of which is not supported for TV Series on DVD.

Solution:

You must store your titles in VIDEO_TS folders for the TV Series on DVD functionality to work. Notice also that the location must be pointed to the folder above the VIDEO_TS folder as "Online (Folder)" type, and not the VIDEO_TS folder itself, and not as the "Online (File)" option pointing to a specific VOB file.

How can I play Blu-ray titles?

Question:

How can I play Blu-ray titles with My Movies and Windows Media Center?

Answer:

Windows Media Center does not include a Blu-ray player by default, and as My Movies only passes playback to Windows Media Center, neither does My Movies.

To play Blu-ray titles, both offline titles (on disc) and titles stored on storage as ISO or BDMV folders, you must purchase either ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre or Cyberlink PowerDVD, which provides Blu-ray playback within Windows Media Center. Both products integrates into Windows Media Center for offline title (on disc) playback as well as playback of ISO files, which are simply mounted as if it was an original disc.

My Movies will detect either ArcSoft TotalMedia Threatre or Cyberlink PowerDVD (version 11 or later) for BDMV folder playback, and will launch the player accordingly.

TV Series on DVD does not play episode directly

Symptoms:

Having added a Disc Title containing a TV Series, the application does not directly play the episode when pressing "Play" on one of the TV Series episodes.

Cause:

There are two possible causes for this:

1) If your movie format is not in a VIDEO_TS folder, which is required by TV Series on DVD, the title would be played back as if it was an ordinary disc title.

2) Some discs are mastered to open a language menu, or the discs root menu by default, something which Windows Media Center due to what we based on documentation see as a bug is unable to workaround. This means that despite requesting the disc title and/or chapter playback in Windows Media Center, the disc is incorrectly started into a menu, and from there does not play the correct episode. This is seen more often on European discs with multiple languages than it is on US based discs which often only contains one language option.

Solution:

Make sure that you only use full VIDEO_TS folder structure copies with TV Series on DVD. If you do that, and the episode does not directly play anyways, there unfortunately is no workaround on the problem in Windows Media Center and the way the disc is mastered. This issue will affect some discs, and not others.
