Question:
I have upgraded to My Movies 4 on Android, and now see a difference in title count compared to version 3. This can also be a difference between My Movies for iPhone/iPad and Android, as iPhone/iPad does not yet support this feature.
Answer:
My Movies 4 on Android introduced a new "Count As" feature to use in relation to box sets, and this can cause a difference in how your collection is counted, with My Movies 4 having a more accurate count.
The change relates to disc title box sets - box sets can exist in our service either as a full box set with child titles, but for box sets that have not been created as full box sets with child titles, only the parent title will exist in the service. In My Movies 3, and in My Movies 4, if the "Count As" value have not been set, a full box set will count as the amount of child titles in the box plus the parent title itself, where a box set consisting of only a parent title will count as one.
In My Movies 4, a "Count As" value could have been set in the global data, which specifically have to match the amount of movies contained in a box set - this can be either for titles created as full box sets with child titles, where the box may contain a certain number of child titles, with only some of them being movies, others may be bonus feature titles - here the "Count As" information can be set to count specifically how many movies the set contains - the other example is a title that have not been created as a full box set with child titles, and only exists as a parent title - here, the "Count As" information could also have been used to set how many movies the set actually contains.
This means that for box sets where the "Count As" information have been set, a full box set with child titles with two movies contained in the box, would in My Movies 3 count as 3 items, where in My Movies 4 it would only count as the two contained movies. On the other hand, box sets that are not created as full box sets, and therefore only exists as a parent title would count as one in My Movies 3, but if the "Count As" information have been set, it would count as that value in My Movies 4, so, there can be changes that have an impact on your title count in both direction - the changes however means that My Movies 4 will have a more accurate count.
Notice! You can use the "Filter" function to filter by "Count As", allowing you to display only titles where this information is set, allowing you to see the titles causing a difference - you can also use this functionality to show only titles where the "Count As" information have not been set, but where it might should have been, in which case you can use the "Add Missing Data" function to contribute the "Count As" information.
In the situation where you disagree on how a set should be counted, you can overwrite the "Count As" global data information with a matching personal data field, in the personal data area for the individual titles. It could be in a situation where you prefer a box set title to count only as one, or where you would like to also count bonus feature titles as titles in the collection.
